About Eric
I grew up in Overland Park and attended schools in the Shawnee Mission School District, graduating high school from Shawnee Mission West. I am also a proud alumnus of Kansas University, where I graduated with degrees in both Business and Art. My wife Jessica and I purchased our 'starter home' just down the road in Merriam when we were pregnant with our first child, Xander. We lived there for eight years, but when we got pregnant with our daughter, Summer, we knew we had to upsize.
We looked at a handful of homes across Johnson County, but we kept being drawn back to Shawnee. It felt like the perfect mix of a small-town feel with big-city amenities and has easy access to any other part of the metro. Downtown Shawnee was just starting to (re)develop, and we saw what 'could be' in that area and we have seen some amazing things happening. We have now lived here for six years. We enjoy all that Shawnee has to offer, from its many parks and pools, various types of entertainment and dining options, Old Shawnee Days, Moonlight Markets, and more.
I am a Sales Manager for Elavon (Merchant Services), where I lead a team of ten sales representatives across the Midwest and Wisconsin. I am a member of the Shawnee Chamber of Commerce. I graduated from the Chamber's 'Shawnee Tomorrow Leadership Program' in 2023. I am on the Chamber's Governmental Committee. I have volunteered with Climate Action KC as well as with the Climate and Energy Project. I ran for City Council in 2021 when I lost to a two-time incumbent, but instead of putting my head down, I brushed myself off and picked up my yard signs the very next day because I knew that I wasn't finished. I ran as a precinct leader in my ward and have been knocking on doors during every election cycle since, strengthening my resolve to be a leader within my community.
I want everyone to feel welcome in Shawnee and for residents to feel like they belong and that their voices matter. We have a great community, but I still see opportunities for improvement.
